The scope of the HEAL project involves a comprehensive audit of Coimbatore’s urban fabric. We are developing strategic interventions to enhance walkability, reduce heat islands, and improve the overall “health” of the city’s network of public spaces.
Addressing legacy infrastructure constraints while proposing modern, sustainable solutions was a key challenge. We utilized advanced mapping techniques to identify critical gaps in the city’s green and blue networks.
We implemented a participatory GIS framework that allows for community-driven data collection. This ensures that urban interventions are grounded in the actual needs and lived experiences of Coimbatore’s residents.
